Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony:

The Graduation Ceremony is a dignified celebration of the 13 years of hard work and effort our students have undertaken. Davis Senior high School staff works towards making sure the ceremony reflects these accomplishments. Working in collaboration with students, teachers, parents, and members of the community, our graduation staff is proud to host an event that will celebrate the spirit of Davis Senior High School.

Continuing the legacy begun by the Class of 2011, the Class of 2021 is proud to host their graduation ceremony on campus at Halden field at the Ron and Mary Brown Stadium on:

Ceremony 1 will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. for Seniors whose last names begin with letters A-K.   

Ceremony 2 will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. for Seniors whose last names begin with letters L-Z.

There will be a mandatory graduation practice at the Ron and Mary Brown Stadium on:

Ceremony #1 graduates have practice on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Ceremony #2 graduates have practice on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 3:00-4:30 p.m.

*ALL students must attend graduation practice in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. More information will be shared as we get closer to rehearsal.

When is the Senior Assembly?
There will NOT be an assembly this year. 
How do I get a graduation cap/gown/tassel unit for Graduation?
The school distributed cap/gown/tassel to every senior free of charge on April 19th and 20th. If you still need to pick up your cap/gown/tassel, please stop by the front office M, T, TH, F 8:00-4:00 pm, or Wednesdays between 8:00-1:30 pm.
How do I apply to be a student speaker at graduation?
Applications became available in the office early April and were due April 23rd. If you are interested in being a speaker, please email Vice Principal Sonam Singh at ssingh@djusd.net
How many seats can I request for the ceremony? How do I get my four tickets for the ceremony?
Each graduate will receive four (4) tickets to the ceremony. Tickets will be distributed early June. Information about picking up tickets will be shared in June.
How do I purchase additional graduation tickets?
Due to health and safety guidelines, no additional tickets will be given.
How will the DSHS staff determine where we sit?
The tickets given to you will have assigned seating. In compliance with the CDPH Live Event guidelines attendees must sit in their assigned seat. 
Will I be able to see? Hear?

Yes! We have reputable local businesses in charge of making sure our speeches and names reach all corners of the stadium, and we will have a high definition jumbo screen on site to ensure viewing of all graduates. 

Sign Interpreters are also assigned.  

What’s the deal with decorating caps? What about individualized items?

Every school approaches their ceremony differently based on the values of the school and community. No decorated mortar boards will be allowed into the graduation ceremony. This decision is a step to maintain a formal tone to the celebration. Please note that all caps/gowns/tassels are property of DJUSD and may not be modified in any way prior to the event. We do not keep any units in stock. Students without proper attire and an intact cap/gown/tassel will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

However, individualized stoles, chords, leis, and sashes are welcome!

Are balloons and umbrellas allowed in the stadium?
No balloons, umbrellas or other large items that may obstruct the view of people around you are allowed in the stadium.
How do I pick up my actual diploma?
Diplomas will not be issued on the day of graduation. The front office will start distributing diplomas on June 22, 2021 during regular business hours. Identification is required. Diploma will only be distributed to the graduate or a legal parent/guardian if the student is under 18. If you are 18 and want another adult to pick up your diplomas for you, you must complete a release waiver.
How early should my family and friends arrive for the event?
Stadium gates will open 1 hour prior to the start of the ceremony. 
How early should graduates arrive to the DHS North Gym prior to the ceremony?
Graduates should arrive 45 minutes prior to the ceremony. 
Where should graduates report when they arrive?
Due to health and safety guidelines we will NOT meet in the North Gym. Graduates should report to the NORTH GRASS Field behind the stadium scoreboard to line up. 
Where should graduates park?
Graduates are encouraged to walk/bike to the ceremony, however those that do drive should park in the Student parking lot and walk out to the North Grass field on the east side of the stadium. 
Where should visitors park?

All attendees are encouraged to walk/bike to the ceremony. Those that drive may park in the Student parking lot or neighboring streets. 

The Stadium Parking Lot will be reserved for Handicap Parking only. 

Will reserve parking be available for persons with disabilities?
Yes, the Stadium Parking Lot will be reserved for Handicap Parking only.
