MENU DHS:

Hey guys! DHS Red Cross Club will be holding its first meeting in Ms. Husmann’s room S-01. If you join, you get the opportunity to volunteer at blood drives, learn CPR, and give back the community through various volunteer events! Make sure to bring your spoon if you received one from us!

Is the state-championship-winning DHS Ski Team right for you? If you are at least an intermediate skier, come find out more at the informational meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Davis High School Library. Interested 9th-12th graders, parents and guardians should attend. Attention all students: For football games there will be a student ASB card entrance starting at this Fridays home game. Please enter through Southeastern gate directly behind the ambulance. Students must present their ASB cards to enter. If you purchased an ASB card and have not yet received it, please bring a copy of your receipt as proof. As a reminder, no backpacks/string bags will be allowed in the stadium.

The PSAT is Saturday, 10/13. The cost is $24.00. There are NO Refunds and no transfers. Sales end 10/1. There are a limited number of tests available. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately.

Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia@mailman.dcn.org. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s).The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.

If you are interested in community service, social service and personal growth, you may want to join The Youth Leadership Davis Program. Where you will intern at the Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter. Come to Mr. Vasquez room, ASC-100 at lunch on September 24th to learn about homelessness and the program. See you there!

Colleges visiting the Career Center this week include Oregon State, Rutgers, UC Santa Cruz, New York University and many more!  Go on Naviance or come to the Career Center to see the list of upcoming college visits!

 

Volunteers are needed for a community mural painting project in North Davis.  The Paint the Street project is creating a large dragon mural on the greenbelt and volunteers are needed to mix paint, help with children, and clean the street.  Come to the Career Center for a flyer on how to sign up.

 

Volunteers are needed to film Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Community Summit at the Davis public library on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Come to the Career Center for more information about this event.
