Attention Seniors!
Have you participated in any civic events or activities or done volunteer work over your years at Davis High? Want to earn a cord to wear at graduation and have a seal added to your diploma?
The California State Board of Education (SBE) awards a State Seal of Civic Engagement (SSCE) to California students who demonstrate excellence in civics education and participation, and an understanding of the United States Constitution, the California Constitution, and the democratic system of government.
To earn the Seal of Civic Engagement, DHS graduating seniors need to meet the following criteria:
1. Be engaged in academic work in a productive way.
2. Demonstrate a competent understanding of key curriculum.
3. Participate in civic engagement project(s) or activity(s).
4. Demonstrate civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
5. Exhibit civically-oriented character traits.
Applicants who meet the criteria will earn a seal on their high school diploma and a cord to wear at graduation this June. The deadline to apply is April 17th at 11:59 pm.
