Davis Senior High School's "All About the Blue"

Davis Senior High School will host our Open House 2023 on Wednesday, February 15, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Come join DHS staff and students to learn about our courses and programs, enjoy student performances, and participate in hands-on activities. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

Performances 
Brunelle Theatre: Scenes & Monologues

Agriculture & FFA: Hands-on demonstrations in Animal & Veterinary Sciences O-1, Agrisciences O-1A, & Agricultural Engineering O-2. Guided tour of New School Farm  starting from near O-2 every 15 minutes.

All Student Center (ASC): ASB, Athletics, Auto, FFA, Multimedia Journalism, Robotics, Student Clubs, and more! 

Autotech:  Open doors & demonstrations in O-3

Ceramics:  Students at work: wheel-thrown pottery and hand-building demonstrations in A6 (5:00-7:00)

Robotics Program: Robot Play & Display (ASC Entrance) 

Sing-along with World Languages: In front of S-6 (6:00 pm) Songbooks provided for Chinese, French, Japanese, & Spanish

Food 
Join FFA in the Quad! Served 5:15 to 6:45
 Barbecue - Prepared by Davis FFA

Families of our Emerging Bilingual Students (English Learners): Hot Chocolate and Conversation (Outside of the Library)

Current 9th graders – As our special guest, we hope you visit with current students and teachers throughout our campus (rooms & locations listed) 
 
ACADEMIC CENTER - (L-10) 
Provides one-on-one tutoring, in-class tutoring, and after school tutoring. Meet the Program Supervisor, to learn about this academic support program. A Peer Tutor class (practical art) is available to juniors and seniors. 

AGRICULTURE (O Bldg & ASC) 
Student-led hands-on participation labs that are open to all guests.  Learn about Agricultural Engineering, AgriScience, Animal Science pathways. From soil testing to floral arranging, service animals to dairy goats, and drones to plasma cutters,attendees have the opportunity to talk with FFA members about the DSHS Ag Experience. Guided tour of New School Farm  starting from near O-2 every 15 minutes.

ART - (A-1, A-3, A-5, A-6, A-7) 
View art projects: AP Drawing & Drawing and Painting (A1), Ceramics AP3D-AP Ceramics (A6), Photography (A7), Video/film & Graphic Design (A5) AP2-D Art and Design(A7) 

AUTO TECH - (O-3) 
The DSHS auto shop will host open-shop and live-demonstrations in the auto shop and shop parking lot. A project car can be viewed on the QUAD. 

ATHLETICS (ASC) 
Learn about our 29 various sports programs and new online athletics registration process. 

AVID (L-105) 
Learn about Advancement Via Independent Determination (AVID). Tutorial demonstration 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in L-105. 

CAREER CENTER (All Student Center) 
Visit the Career Center to see what resources are available to help students navigate college planning, find college scholarships, access up-to-date financial aid information, explore summer activities, volunteer and job opportunities, and more. 

COMPUTER LAB (A-5) 
Learn about our CyberSecurity:ICT Essentials, Internet Engineering (CISCO), C++/Java programming, and Drafting classes. 

COUNSELORS (Table at Administration Building Entrance ) 
Counselors will be available to answer questions in English and Spanish. Campus maps and programs will be available. 

DRAMA & STAGECRAFT (IPAB) 
Please attend Scenes and Monologues. Stagecraft Instructor Shenandoah Kehoe       Gwyn Bruch will be on hand to answer any questions about our program in P11.

ENGLISH (Library) 
Have your questions answered about Lit/Comp AP and get the details on the differences between college prep, honors, Advanced Placement while we showcase student work in: English 10, American Voices, British Lit, Senior Literature, and SciFi. Learn more about English support and elective courses in ELD (English Language Development), and ACES (Academic Coaching Empowering Success).

LIBRARY 
Obsolete and discarded books from the library and textbook collection will be on tables near the library entrance. English and Social Science Departments will be present. 

MATHEMATICS (Library) 
Math teachers will be available to discuss Math course sequencing focusing on a three year plan, take questions about course pacing and course expectations pertaining to scheduling, and provide information about all courses.

JOURNALISM (Staircase at the L Building in the quad)
Check out our award winning Multimedia Journalism program, The HUB.  Students will be available to answer your HUB related questions. And watch us film our weekly news show,

MUSIC (ON TOUR) 
Music teachers will be presenting videos in PA8 and PA3. Please see counselors for information related to upcoming auditions and course availability. 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:  North Gym & Weight Room 
Drop by the North gym and our weight room to meet the Physical Education teachers, ask questions about the Physical Education and Weight Lifting course offerings, or play some basketball or badminton. 

ROBOTICS (M1 & M2) 
The Davis Senior High School Robotics Program will be showcasing all aspects of our program from Fabrication and assembly to program and Business. View our demonstrations near the entrance of M1 & M2.

SOCIAL SCIENCE (Library) 
World Civilization, US History (AP), RSJ, US Government(AP), Economics, Microeconomics/Macroeconomics, International Relations, Human Geography AP, and Psychology classes will have displays and PowerPoint presentations. 

SPECIAL EDUCATION (Learning Center & C4) 
Learning Center: C4: Learn how our inclusion program is fully integrated through class schedules, clubs on campus (Best Buddies), and specialized courses that promote and build job readiness skills, social skills, and study skills, while improving functional reading, writing and math abilities. 

WORLD LANGUAGES (S- 06) 
Learn about our World Language classes: Chinese, French, Japanese & Spanish 
Join our international community where you will sample hot tea from other countries, view student presentations, textbooks, student work, and learn about the various language exchange programs. All languages sing-along 6:00 p.m. – 6:20 p.m. 

THE WELLNESS CENTER
Next to the Nurse’s Office in the Admin Building: Come experience the ambiance of the Wellness Center. This is a space where students can come during their school day to find calm and support during stressful times at school and/or life. Students can rest and recollect themselves on their own or meet with a counselor if they could use the support.
