Big Blue D

Dear Davis Senior High School Family,

On behalf of the Davis Senior High School staff, I am excited to welcome you and all Blue Devils to the 2019-20 school year! We are looking forward to helping all of our students thrive and enjoy many fulfilling and memorable experiences on our campus. Together, we will continue our rich tradition of excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics.

I am honored to lead a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate staff. D.S.H.S. Vice Principals Amelia Hess, Mark Simi, and Chandra Wengler, Head Counselor Cathie Pereira, and Athletic Director Jeff Lorenson worked diligently this summer to coordinate a smooth and successful opening of school. We are very fortunate to welcome more than twenty new and talented certificated and classified staff members to our team. We are presenting creative and impactful instruction and providing our students with a variety of fun extracurricular activities.

Davis Senior High School is committed to:

· Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students

· Providing high quality instruction that is engaging and relevant to our students’ lives

· Fostering positive relationships that connect all students to our school in positive ways

I encourage all of our students to get involved at Davis Senior High School and make the most of the services we provide. Students can explore more than fifty student-led clubs on our campus, and students can even create a club of their own. The All Student Center is an inviting place where students meet with friends, socialize, and enjoy fresh and healthful meals. This year, we are excited to offer all students a free breakfast each day at our All Student Center to give everyone a great start. Also, we are excited to begin an intramural sports program a lunch. Through our College and Career Center at the ASC, students can seek volunteer opportunities during high school and explore pathways to their future. At our Academic Center, students receive help with their assignments in nearly every subject from U.C. Davis tutors. You can find important information about our school on our new website at http://dshs.djusd.net. I encourage you to also follow us on Facebook @davisseniorhighdjusd.

I look forward to a fantastic year supporting the students of Davis Senior High School as they grow personally and intellectually, pursue their interests, and gain friendships. I want to invite you to join us at our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 26, at 6:00 PM. My door is open to you and I value your thoughts and ideas. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you and your student to make this school year a special one.

Go Big Blue!
