DSHS General Testing Information 

The College Board develops and administers standardized tests and curricula used by K–12 and post-secondary education institutions.  DJUSD high schools offer Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and testing each spring.  DJUSD has also historically offered PSAT testing and serves as an SAT testing center for the College Board.

 

As you think about testing and the admissions process, it is important to note that University of California no longer considers SAT or ACT scores as a factor in admissions (beginning with the graduating class of 2021).  California State Schools, too, have discontinued the use of standardized test scores in undergraduate CSU admissions.  Private schools, and those outside of California, may have different admissions processes including using standardized tests.  The PSAT-NMSQT, when taken in 11th grade, can qualify students to be National Merit Scholars if they score within the top 1% of students.  


During the 2024-25 school year, DJUSD will make College Board Assessments available and accessible to our students in the following ways:

  • PSAT/NMSQT administration will be Saturday, October 12, 2024. 11th grade DJUSD students will have priority for registration as seats will be limited. Be sure to register promptly when registration opens at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year in August.  Interested 10th grade students will automatically be added to a waitlist and will be contacted if a seat is available.

    • The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered in College Board's digital format with students using DJUSD-issued Chromebooks. A technology-readiness check will be required prior to testing day. More information regarding the technology component will be provided closer to the testing date.

  • Davis Senior High School will administer the SAT two times: Saturday, August 24, 2024 and Saturday, March 8, 2025.

    • Registration can only be done through the College Board website linked here.

    • Registration is capped, the College Board maintains the student roster and all registration, and there is not a waitlist.

    • Speak to your school counselor if you need payment assistance.

  • AP testing will take place in May 2025 (exact dates have not been released).  Teachers of AP classes will guide students through AP content and testing procedures. Registration for 2024-25 AP Exams opens August 26 and is supported by the DSHS Testing Office. Registration information will be available here in August.

Important: If you/your student has a disability and school-based accommodations, please note that College Board has its own unique accommodations application process for PSAT/NMSQT, SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exams and does not honor school-based accommodations. Please contact your student’s counselor to begin the application process.
