
The DHS Peer Advocate Program is now seeking applicants for the 2026-27 school year. The Peer Advocate Program is designed to help and support students at Davis Senior High School. Through this service, trained and certified Peer Advocates will positively influence the outlook and behavior of students. The role of the Peer Advocate is not to advise, but to listen and encourage thoughtful guidance. Our Peer Advocates are trained to ensure confidentiality between themselves and students; however, they are also mandated reporters if more serious topics of self harm or harm towards others arise.
- Must be in good academic standing- maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Their role is to listen and encourage thoughtfulness as the student navigates solving potential problems
- They are NOT meant to advise or offer their opinion
- Referred and self-referred students have the opportunity to apply
- Fall Semester, peer advocates will complete 16 hours of training and practice role playing scenarios with students
- Spring Semester, students will be able to start providing services as Peer Advocates to the school community in the following ways:
- Orientation/transition student support, buddy connections, peer education and more
- This program is a year long commitment
- Peer advocates are trained in confidentiality, however, they are also mandated reporters if self-harm or harm towards others is brought up
