THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1997 - The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 554.26 points. The stock market was shut down for the first time since the 1981 assassination attempt on U.S. President Reagan.

TODAY:

Do you feel like you don’t have a voice at school? Join the DHS Social Club. Where you can make surveys and analyze what Blue Devils think about different topics! Come to L-28 for our first general meeting.

 

Guys, gals, and non-binary pals! The GSA will have a guest speaker today. Come to talk to us about LGBTQ + History Month, in Mr. Moore’s room, P-21, on the 2nd floor near the elevator. We will see you there!

 

Asian Student Union will be holding a meeting at lunch in L-14. Come join us for a fun time. Everyone is welcome!

 

(Uh-gop-pay) Agape is today! Come to S-7 Mr. Millers room for a game and discussion. Bring your friends! Everyone is welcome!

 

DHS Politics Club will be meeting today at lunch in room N-2, where we will be holding club leadership elections and discussing current events.

 

Hey CSF, there is a general meeting today at lunch in room P-13. We will be going over more volunteer opportunities. Hope to see you there!

 

Today is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the November Davis High School PTA Newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve DHSPTAmedia@mailman.dcn.org. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s). The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities

New this school year! DSHS Sports Passes! The Athletics Department is selling sports passes on the webstore on the DSHS website. Passes currently for sale:  All Sports Family Pass; All Sports Individual Pass; Freshman All Sports Pass. NOW AVAILABLE...basketball & soccer! Thank you for supporting DSHS Athletics! ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

Attention Senior Parents! Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about Grad Night? Grad Night tickets are now on sale. Every graduating senior in Davis (DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this All-night, alcohol and drug free party on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 pm- 5:00am. Visit davisgradnight.org  to purchase tickets. Tickets are $75.00 until February 1st. So get your tickets before prices go up. Ticket includes all activities, food, and raffle entry. 

 

Seniors, Prestige Photography will be on campus on Friday, November 3rd, 2017 to take senior photos.

If you have not taken your senior photos please make sure to contact Marlen Cabrera, VP Secretary right away via email mosoriocabrera@djusd.net or by phone (530)757-5400 Ext: 113. If you want to appear in the senior section of the yearbook, you must take your senior photo through Prestige. The cost is $20 if you wish to purchase proofs and select your yearbook photo, or free if you do not wish to purchase proofs.

 

DHS’s Blue Poster Walls were established to provide a space for groups to reach DHS students when special events occurs by posting their flyers. This is a reminder to treat with care the papers taped to the wall. Please make sure that posters with upcoming events are well taped to ensure that they remain in place. We appreciate your respect of this important communication wall. 

 

Save the DATE: DHS Upcoming Climate Meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 7th at Lunch. More information to come next week.

CLUBS:

Are you brave enough to face your fears? Find out at Disturbia Haunted House on Saturday, October 28, at 620 Estrella Place, from 7pm-12am. Tickets are $5 dollars at the door. All the funds collected will go to support the Jazz Choir Program.

 

DHS BSU will be having meetings every Monday at lunch in room P-11. Come and learn more about cultural diversity.

 

Please join us at the next Latinos Unidos meeting on Tuesday in room O-6 during lunch. Dr. Melisa Moreno will be presenting on the “Meaning of El Dia de los Muertos.”
